Building a better ship

Just refining the quick sketch I posted earlier. I ditched the balloon. Apparently this whole story takes place in a fantasy world where it's always 15 minutes till sunset. :P

Scientists altered the earths rotation in 3011 CE (or a few decades before whatever crazy year your story is taking place in) so that a single location on earth (or... whatever planet, i guess) could be bathed in perpetual sunset, thereby ensuring that the lighting and color scheme would be awesome, no matter what you were doing!
